Easy Lift R180 Spider Contributes to the Restoration of the Sistine Chapel

Easy Lift R180 spider lift was used for a restoration intervention on the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel: technology at the service of art.

When technology and innovation are put at the service of art, the results can only be extraordinary. The protagonist, in this case, is our R180 tracked spider model, which was used for a unique project: the restoration of Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, one of the most precious treasures of the world’s cultural heritage located in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, Rome.

Thanks to the collaboration with the dealer Skylift Piattaforme Aeree, Easy Lift’s partner for Lazio and Campania for over five years, the R180 model was delivered to Palma Noleggioa historic Roman company with thirty years of experience in the access sector. Palma Noleggio boasts a fleet of modern and versatile vehicles, including tracked spiders, ideal for complex interventions such as the restoration of one of the most important works in the world.

With a maximum working height of 17.60 meters and a horizontal outreach of 8.50 meters, the R180 spider guarantees excellent performance in delicate contexts such as the Sistine Chapel. Its precise maneuverability, guaranteed by proportional controls, has made it possible to operate safely and with great efficiency.

Its compactness (only 0.89 m wide) and lightness (2330 kg) make it ideal for moving in confined spaces, thus facilitating its transport in the Chapel, without damaging the precious floors or the numerous artistic treasures that the Apostolic Palace houses.

Thanks to the versatility of the machine, operators have been able to easily reach every point of the frescoes, carrying out restoration operations with the utmost care.
Furthermore, the electric mode allows for silent and zero-emission operation, perfect for working in enclosed spaces and in the presence of priceless works of art.

To optimize the management of operations in such a delicate context, the machine supplied was equipped with specific optional accessories, including: wire control, self-levelling system, pads, and non-marking tracks, which together have further enhanced its performance.
